Louis Vuitton’s coveted Pochette Métis in the monogram canvas is undoubtedly a fashion staple. It is everywhere, but for some reason, I held off purchasing one. Now, I can say without a doubt, that was a big mistake!

SIZE, STRUCTURE, AND DETAILS
Size of Louis Vuitton’s Pochette Métis
The Louis Vuitton Pochette Métis measures 9.84” x 7.48” x 2.76”. It has a beautiful short top handle with a drop of approximately 1”, as well as a removable and adjustable shoulder strap that has a drop of approximately 18.9” to 21.7”. You can easily carry this purse by its top handle for a hand carry, wear it crossbody, or sling it over your shoulder quite comfortably. Thankfully, at 5’4’’ the Pochette Métis complements my frame perfectly.
Exterior Pochette Métis
The Monogram Pochette Métis has a beautiful rectangular satchel shape, monogram canvas, and gold-tone hardware. In addition, there is a striking S-lock at the front of the bag, a natural cowhide (vachetta) short top handle, vachetta strap holders, and a vachetta tab pull on the top portion of the S-Lock. Furthermore, the S-lock has “LV” embossed on the top portion of the lock (flap portion), and “Louis Vuitton Paris”/Trademark symbol embossed on the lock itself. Without a doubt, the S-lock does a wonderful job of keeping the flap securely fastened to the bag.
The vachetta short top handle is also embossed with “Louis Vuitton Paris” and the Trademark symbol. Even the rivets of the strap holders include the name of this wonderful fashion house! Additionally, there is a rear zippered pocket that is spacious enough to hold a phone or keys. To boot, the zipper of the exterior pocket has a striking elongated gold-tone zipper pull.
When you look at the exterior of the bag, in addition to the adorable flap, there are three apparent accordion sections/compartments that correspond to the three functional interior compartments of the bag.
When working your way from front to rear of the exterior the bag, the front two compartments have monogram piping on the edges while the rear compartment has thick glazing to protect its edges. The canvas of the rear compartment extends upward to form the flap that traverses to the front of the bag. Correspondingly, the strap of the Pochette Métis is comprised of monogram canvas and has five separate grommets for adjusting the length of the strap.
Interior of Louis Vuitton’s Pochette Métis
The interior of the Pochette Métis is lined with an amazing chocolate brown suede-like microfiber lining. The lining is so soft and luxurious! The purse also has three interior compartments, with the smallest compartment located at the back of the purse, and the middle compartment being slightly larger than the front compartment. Plus, the middle compartment contains the Louis Vuitton Made in Paris label.
I absolutely love the structure, organization, and holding capacity of the Pochette Métis. In the rear compartment, I can place a key pouch, a pack of gum, and a keyless entry card with lanyard. The middle compartment can hold my Louis Vuitton Small Ring Agenda, Mini Pochette Accessories, travel perfume, and ear pods. Moreover, in the front compartment, it can hold a Zippy Coin Purse and a vitamin packet.

THE PAST IS IN THE PAST…
While the Pochette Métis previously had problems with cracking of the canvas of the monogram flap and the glazing on the edges of the bag, according to my SA, Louis Vuitton has since remedied the situation. Reportedly, they have made the canvas of the flap thicker, yet more pliable. In addition, Louis Vuitton has re-worked the glazing to prevent premature cracking. All this culminates into a beautifully structured, yet flexible handbag that will hopefully last for plenty of years.
While it may have had some problems previously, that is all in the past. So far, my Pochette Métis does not have the dreaded crooked front flap or vachetta, cracking of the front flap, glazing issues, or cracking/hardness of the shoulder strap. Instead, I have found that the canvas of my handbag and strap have some give to them, but by no means are they flimsy. In addition, the canvas has that perfect monogram appearance that is not too dull or too shiny. Finally, the flap and bag are perfectly aligned and the glazing on the piece is impeccable!
CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF THE LOUIS VUITTON POCHETTE MÉTIS
To clean the monogram canvas, I just wipe it down with a dampened white cloth. Occasionally, I also use Apple Brand Leather Conditioner to keep the canvas nice and pliable. For the vachetta leather, I spray it with Apple Brand Garde Rain & Stain Water Repellent to prevent water stains. If you decide to treat your Louis Vuitton pieces, you do so at your own risk; however, I have not had any problem whatsoever with either product. You can buy these wonderful products from Amazon! You can purchase this iconic handbag for $1830.00, in person at a Louis Vuitton boutique, or online at Louisvuitton.com, but be warned, it is often out of stock. Thankfully, during the holiday season, Louis Vuitton releases a few more of its highly sought after styles as compared with any other time of the year. While it is still not an easy task, a little persistence will pay off. By a little persistence, I mean going to Louis Vuitton’s website, finding your heart’s desire, and refreshing the web page…endlessly. When I was recently able to purchase both the Monogram and Reverse Monogram versions of the Pochette Métis, my heart fluttered with joy! If you miss out, be prepared to either have a wonderful relationship with your SA or spend a ton of time waiting for one to appear online throughout the rest of the year.

CONCLUSION
The construction, size, and versatility of Louis Vuitton’s Pochette Métis makes it one of the best luxury handbags that you can own. I have found it to be an ultra-comfortable handbag and, with its three separate compartments, it holds all my daily essentials in an organized manner. In addition, it is also one of my best travel bags as the S-lock keeps my bag securely closed. Not to mention, it coordinates well with both work attire and casual wear.
Additionally, the Pochette Métis also holds its value nicely, so if you decide to use it for a bit and then sell it later, you are likely not to lose much money at all.
