During our last trip to New York, we visited Bob’s Steak & Chop House in Midtown Manhattan near Central Park. The restaurant is located in the Omni Berkshire Place Hotel, and it is absolutely stunning! The ambiance of the restaurant was amazing, very elegant. The colors meld together to create an inviting scene. You can see the beautiful enormous wine cellar from almost anywhere within the space. We glanced around and were impressed by the tall ceilings, stunning woodwork, and the array of art displayed throughout the restaurant. The finishes were luxurious, yet welcoming. The lighting throughout the restaurant was sufficient and relaxing- not overly bright, but not cave-like either. I also appreciated that the tables were spaced amply apart, which was a welcome relief compared to most other restaurants we visited in New York.
Once we walked in, we were greeted by a poised woman who happily showed us to our table. She introduced us to our server and wished us well on our adventures in New York. Our server took our drink order and then walked us through the menu. He also provided us with the history behind the restaurant and reminisced with us about the original Bob’s on Lemmon Avenue in Dallas, Texas. That is our all-time favorite steakhouse and the New York location did not disappoint! The manager also came and checked on us during our meal. Bob’s went above and beyond to make us feel like we were the most important customers in the world.
The Prime Filet Mignon at Bob’s Steak & Chop House in New York was mind-blowing. The plating was gorgeous, simple, and elegant. The outside of my filet had a delightful caramelization. Once I cut into the filet, I noticed that it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The first bite was flavorful with just the right amount of seasoning that was subtle and satisfying. The true excellence of the cut of meat was allowed to shine through. The filet was super tender with a moist butter-like texture that was enjoyable and effortless to chew. It had the perfect amount of moisture, juiciness, and just the right amount of give to both the steak knife and my teeth! Pure bliss, not a chewy steak full of tough connective tissue.
The filet came with a tasty glazed carrot that was sweet and flavorful. If it was meant to be a garnish, I did not care as it was delicious! You have an additional choice of side and I quickly selected the smashed potatoes. They were smooth and full of flavor, no salt or pepper needed. Each table also has a jar of Bob’s incredible pickles, plenty of bread, and the sweetest, most mouth-watering butter you have ever tasted! Between the succulent steak, sides, and all the extras, I did not have any room left for dessert. The beauty of the restaurant, friendliness of the staff, and tastiness of the food all culminated into an entirely pleasing experience. It was by far one of the best fine dining adventures we have ever had. In a city of so many choices, Bob’s Steak & Chop House in Midtown Manhattan was worth the visit.
